September 2021 COVID Information: Here is some important information for you to know about:

We are requiring ALL students (and our staff) to be fully vaccinated (2 weeks after final shot) against COVID-19 to be able to come to an in-person class. Students must either email a photo of their COVID vaccination card OR show their card to a staff member BEFORE entering the building for the first class.

With the recent increase in cases in Washtenaw County and our state, while we aren't requiring the use of masks, we do encourage you to use one.

Puppy Kindergarten

Puppy Kindergarten

Learn how to build a solid relationship with your new puppy and a good foundation for future dog sports. Develop skills for maintaining your puppy’s attention. Teach basic obedience cues (come, sit, down, stay, and loose-leash walking). Socialize your puppy to a new environment and other dogs and people (puppies will actually get to play with each other during or after at least one or two of the classes, how often depends on the makeup of each class). Discussion topics will vary depending on each group’s needs and interests, but can include how to handle children and puppies; potty training; coping with multi-pet households; solving chewing, housebreaking and jumping problems; and non-medical questions about spaying and neutering and basic care. Please check with your vet as some vets recommend that young puppies should have had the second in the series of distemper vaccinations before attending a group training class, but some are fine with them attending after the initial vaccine depending on age, breed and other factors. There is currently a limit of one person per puppy due to Covid19 and anyone attending needs to provide proof of vaccination. This could change over time so look here for updates.

Prerequisites

Puppy must be between 10 weeks and 4 months old when the class begins. If you have a larger breed puppy the younger you can start the better! Please email info@northfielddogtraining.com with questions.

Mon 7:00-7:55 PM Oct 18 Nov 29 $120 Kathryn 21K10MonPK Filled
Notes: This class will skip November 22nd for Thanksgiving.
You will need to bring a mat** to class. We will be doing some crate work, so if you have one, plan on bringing it to class at least part of the time. If your puppy is active and likes to bark, bring something to occupy them during down time. You will need lots of small, easy-to-chew, high-value treats (this is from the dog’s perspective; they should love what they are getting). Dogs must be worked on either a buckle or martingale collar, or a harness.

** A mat is some sort of dog bed. If you do not have a dog bed at this time, you can use a bath mat or even a towel to get started—although we would encourage you to get a bed specifically for your dog.
